RING SIZING GUIDE

We use UK letter sizing here in South Africa, so if you're using another system, be sure to check the conversion chart below to match it up.

General rule the sizes are as follows:

  • X-Small: K, L, M
  • Small: N, O, P
  • Medium: Q, R, S, T
  • Large: U, V, W
  • X-Large: X, Y, Z, Z+1/2/3

Pop into the Metal Maiden Studio or visit a local jeweller to have your size professionally measured.

If you are not able to visit a jeweller, below are a couple of DIY options. Although these may not be perfectly accurate, it will be good enough to get an idea of the correct size.

DIY RING SIZING OPTIONS

Measure one of your rings

Grab a ring that fits the finger you’re buying for

Lay it flat and use a ruler to measure the inside diameter in millimetres (edge to edge across the centre)

Then match that number with the closest size in the chart below

Measure your finger

Wrap a piece of string, cardboard, wire, or even a cable tie around your finger. It is advisable to seek assistance from someone else to help adjust the paper strip.

Mark where it meets, lay it flat, and measure the length in millimetres

That number is your finger’s circumference
Note: this method can be inaccurate, different materials stretch and wrap differently, so accuracy isn’t guaranteed

Now convert the measurement

Once you have your number (either diameter or circumference), use the conversion table to find your UK ring size.

JEWELLERY CARE

Each Metal Maiden piece is handmade, carved, and finished by hand, meaning no two are ever exactly alike. Slight variations in texture and tone are part of the magic, not a flaw. All materials are of the highest quality, sourced locally and shaped using ancient techniques to create wearable art.

Sterling silver naturally develops a patina over time, soft shifts in light and dark tones that mark its journey with you. This happens from exposure to oxygen and skin acidity. Skin acidity levels differ in all people and higher levels will cause oxidisation in jewellery to occur faster. You can choose to let it evolve or bring back the shine using a silver polishing cloth (just know that polishing is done at your own risk).

The best way to clean your silver or gold jewellery is with Silvo or Brasso and a soft cotton or polishing cloth. Alternatively you can use warm soapy water and a soft brush, rinse with hot water and dry with a soft cloth.

Please avoid using any harsh chemicals or cleaners, especially on patinas, resins, or natural materials, as they can cause irreversible damage. Even though your piece is made from precious metal, it deserves care, keep it out of water (no ocean dips, showers, or chlorinated pools), and away from soaps, detergents, and humidity. When not worn, store it somewhere dry and safe.
